| Weldon Road changed | Whereas application having been made in writing to this Court for an order to change the public road known as the Weldon Road in the following manner: to run the same around the field of Matthew Mims, commencing at or near Walnut Creek and intersecting the said road again at or near William Hays; and it appearing to the Court that legal notice has been given as is required by law, it is therefore ordered by the Court that the following named persons be and they are hereby appointed a jury of review: Matthew Mims, M. A. Gore, W F Connell, R E Jones, William Mims Sr, M J Parrish and J M Parrish, to view and mark out said proposed change and report their action in the premises to the next term of this Court. |
| Mountain Creek Road portion discontinued | Whereas application in writing having been made to this Court for an order to discontinue a portion of the Mountain Creek Road, viz: from fork of road near J Callaways to the Knights Ferry Road; and it appearing to the Court that legal notice of such application has been given as is required by law, and that the same is of no further utility to the travelling public, it is therefore ordered by the Court that said Mountain Creek Road be and the same is hereby discontinued from the fork of said road near J Callaway to Knights Ferry Road. |
| G. O. Logan - gates across Clanton & Smith Ferry Road | Whereas application in writing having been made to the Court by G. O. Logan for an order to erect two gates across the Clanton & Smith Ferry Road, one to be located at the fork of Big Island and Clanton roads, the other near lower ford on Calloways Creek on Clanton and Smith Ferry road; and it appearing to the Court that legal notice has been given as required by law of said intended application, it is therefore ordered by the Court that said application be granted and the said G. O. Logan be and he is hereby authorized to erect across the said Clanton and Smith Ferry Road [entry continues on next page]. |

| Continuation - G. O. Logan gates | [Continuation:] two gates, one at or near the fork of Big Island & Clanton Road, the other at or near lower ford in Calloways Creek on Clanton and Smith Ferry Road. It is further ordered by the Court that said gates to be erected shall be of the following width, that is to say, 12 feet from post to post; the crossbeam from post to post shall be of sufficient height not to obstruct the passage of wagons or vehicles traveling over said road. It is further ordered by the Court that said gates are to be erected at the expense of the said G. O. Logan and to be provided with convenient fastenings so as not to hinder or delay the traveling public. It is further ordered that the County shall no wise be liable for any damage arising from the neglect of the traveling public in keeping said gates closed, caused by the depredation of stock on the crops of the said G. O. Logan or any tenant cultivating any lands enclosed by said gates; and it is further ordered that the said G. O. Logan is hereby required to keep said gates in good repair. |
| Bridge across Bear Creek | Whereas application in writing has been made to the Court for a bridge across Bear Creek on the Mountain and Tuscaloosa Road, between Mrs. Emmett Jones and Eli Mims, it is therefore ordered by the Court that D. A. White, Seaborn Jones and Charles Williams be and they are hereby appointed a committee and are hereby authorized and empowered to draft a plan and specifications for said bridge across said Creek and to let the same to the lowest bidder after giving notice of the same, reserving to themselves the right to reject any bid that may be offered, who shall report their action in the premises to the next term of this Court. |
| Public road from Smiths Ferry road to Big Island Road | Whereas application in writing has been made to the Court to establish a public road leaving the Smiths Ferry and Clanton road, near Mrs. M. C. Logans gate, and intersecting the Big Island Road near Mrs. Evers in said County of Chilton; and it appearing to the Court that due and legal notice of this application has been made of such application as is required by law, it is therefore ordered by the Court that said application be granted. It is further ordered by the Court that [Ben] Knight, Jackson Jones, John [Dugger], William Taylor, [Dyer] Mellaw, [Duglish] be, and they are hereby appointed a jury of review to view and mark out said road and report their action thereon to the next term of this Court. |

| Public road to be called Ruckers & Fullers Mill Road | Whereas application in writing having been made to the Court for the establishment of a public road, leaving the Dixie & Clanton Road at or near Mrs. Ruckers and running thence by the way of Fullers Mills and thence intersecting the Clanton Road at or near the point where Maplesville road leaves Chocktaw Road; and it appearing to the Court that due and legal notice as prescribed by law, it is therefore ordered by the Court that said application be granted. It is further ordered by the Court that Robert Roebuck, John Dunnam, Martin Kester, E. J. Fuller, W. F. Allen, James Martin and T. C. Matthews be and they are hereby appointed a jury of review to view and mark out said road and report their action thereon to the next term of this Court. It is further ordered by the Court that the Choctaw Road where said road leaves the Maplesville road to the [Randy] old place be and the same is hereby abolished. |
| Bridge across Cargal Creek | Whereas application has been made to the Court for a bridge across Cargal Creek at the lower ford on the Clanton and Smith Ferry Road leading from Smith Ferry to Clanton. It is therefore ordered by the Court that Moses Robinson, G. O. Logan and R E Jones be and they are hereby appointed and are hereby authorized and empowered to draft a plan and specifications for said bridge across said Creek and after giving notice of the same, let the same to the lowest bidder, provided said bid received shall not exceed the sum of eighty dollars. Said committee are hereby required to report their action thereon to the next term of this Court. |
| Bridge near G. W. Howard old place - $120.00 | Whereas John B. [Cumbys] has made application to the Court for an allowance of the sum of one hundred and twenty-five dollars for repairs on the bridge across [Brimett] Creek at G. W. Howards old mill pond. It is therefore ordered by the Court that W. B. Stroud and Milton [Lane] be and they are hereby appointed a committee to examine the repairs on said bridge and ascertain the amount of the work done and the value of the same [entry continues]. |

| Continuation - bridge committee | [Continuation:] said committee shall have examined said bridge and have ascertained the amount of repairs done on the same. That said committee shall report their action in the premises to the Judge of Probate, who shall have authority to issue a warrant on the County Treasurer for the amount reported by said committee to be due, provided said Judge of Probate shall be satisfied with the report of said committee. |
| S. A. Blasingame - bridge across Goose Pond Creek | Whereas application has been made to the Court by S. A. Blasingame for an allowance of the sum of thirty & 94/100 dollars for lumber furnished for repairs of the bridge across Goose Pond Creek, it is therefore ordered by the Court that Alfred Baker, James E. Lowe and James Thatcher be and they are hereby appointed a committee to examine and report the amount of and worth of lumber used in repairing said bridge, and report their action thereon to the Judge of Probate, who shall have authority to issue a warrant on the County Treasurer for the amount reported by said committee to be due for lumber furnished, provided said Judge of Probate shall be satisfied with the report of said committee. |
| Bridge across Chestnut Creek at Coopers Station | It is ordered by the Court that a majority of the committee heretofore appointed to draft a plan and specifications for the bridge across Chestnut Creek near Coopers Station have reported to the Judge of said Court that A. C. Cooper was the lowest bidder to build said bridge and that he has completed the same according to the specifications set forth by said committee, and that said bridge is worth the amount that the said A. C. Cooper bid to build said bridge, to-wit the sum of three hundred and twenty-eight dollars and [seventy-five cents]. It is hereby made the duty of the Judge of Probate to draw a warrant on the County Treasurer for the sum of three hundred and twenty-eight dollars in favor of A. C. Cooper for the building of said bridge. |
| Change the Montgomery and Tuscaloosa Road | Whereas the jury of review to view and mark out the change in the Montgomery and Tuscaloosa road commencing at Swift Creek at or near William W. Mardis mill and intersecting said road again at or near Henry Morgans, having made their report, it is therefore ordered by the Court that said road be changed in accordance with the report of said jury as marked out by them. It is further ordered by the Court that the overseer on said [entry continues on next page]. |

| Public road from Mahans Creek to Providence Church | Whereas application in writing having been made to the Court for an order for the establishment of a public road as follows: beginning at or near the ford of Graham Creek on the old [Ashwa] Road about 3/4 mile north of the residence of David Woodley and running from thence east on the line of the lands belonging to John [O.] Milligan, Frank and Samuel Cuny to said Cunys house, and from thence running in an easterly direction to Providence Church, thence from thence to the Wyatt road and Montgomery road, intersecting the same at or near the crossroads, four miles from the [Morris] & Montevallo. It is therefore ordered by the Court that the following named persons be and they are hereby appointed a jury of review to view and mark out said road, to-wit: Simpson Eddings, W. B. String, Samuel Cuny, George Armstrong, W. W. Sims, Olive Thompson and Ezekiel Eddings, and report their action thereon to the next term of this Court. |
| Change the Verbena and Knights Ferry Road | Whereas application in writing having been made to the Court for an order to change the Verbena and Knights Ferry Road in the following manner, viz: leaving the original survey at the South and North Ala Rail Road, and running a north course across Gibbons & Barretts mill pond and intersecting at or near first mile post north of Verbena, going to Salt Ferry; and it appearing to the Court that notice has been given as required by law and that said change will be of benefit to the public. It is therefore ordered by the Court that the following named persons be and they are hereby appointed as a jury of review, viz: H. L. Gulledge, W. J. [Cryer], J. C. Gillin, [J. C.] Mullins, J. C. [Traywick], and M. D. Dawson, to view and mark out said change and report their action in the premises to the next term of this Court. |

It is further ordered by the Court that Andrew Kelley be and he is hereby directed to open said road as changed by said jury of review at his own expense and place the same in good condition. |

| Order for Special Term | Order for Special Term of Commissioners Court of Chilton County. State of Alabama, Chilton County. Be it known, that H. M. Hays, Tax Collector of said County, having failed to make reports and pay over to the County Treasurer tax money collected by said Hays for said County for the tax year 1879, and the said Hays having also failed to produce to said Court the State books for said year 1879, and the interest of the County of Chilton requiring that the accounts of said Hays, State and County, on account of his tax year 1879 be investigated, and said State books be produced before the Board of County Commissioners of said County, therefore I, H. J. Callen, Judge of Probate of said County, hereby order that a Special Term of the Board of County Commissioners of said County be held to convene at the Court House of said County on Monday, March 1st 1880, for the purpose of investigating the accounts of said Tax Collector, and causing said Collector to produce before said Court said State books, and for taking such action as may be deemed necessary to protect the interest of said County in the matter of its taxes for the tax year 1879. And it is further ordered by me that notice of the holding of said Special Term of the Court of County Commissioners be required by law, and notice of the holding of said Special Term of the Court of County Commissioners and the day shall be made by posting written notices thereof at the Court House door in Clanton, and three other public places in said County. | Special Term of County Commissioners | Special Term of the Court of County Commissioners of Chilton County. State of Alabama, Chilton County. Be it remembered that this the 11th day of March, it being made to appear that a Special Term of the Court of County Commissioners was ordered by H. J. Callen, Judge of Probate of said County, on the 1st day of March 1880, to be held on this day for the purpose of investigating the accounts of H. M. Hays as Tax Collector of said County for the tax year 1879, and causing said Hays to produce before said Court the State books for the tax year 1879, and for taking such further action as may be necessary for the interest of said County in the matter of its taxes for the tax year 1879. And it further appearing that notice of said Special Term of said Court had been given as required by law. The Court of County Commissioners met in Special Term on this day, Hon. H. J. Callen, Judge, present and presiding, with Afsrs. D. A. White, K. Wells, J. C. Gardner and Moses Robinson, County Commissioners of said County being present. Thereupon the following proceedings were had. |
| Suit against H. M. Hays | It is ordered by the Court that Wm. T. Callen as attorney for the County bring action against H. M. Hays as Tax Collector of said County, and the sureties upon his official bond as said Collector, for the sum of seven hundred and [amount] dollars of County tax collected by said Hays for the tax year 1879 and not paid over to the Treasurer, as found by the Court upon an investigation of said Tax Collectors accounts for said year 1879. |
