| Specification of Bridges - continued | Materials of the following dimensions and qualities that is to say: Mud sills to be 8 x 12, sap if in water, heart if not covered with water. No mud sill to be less than 2 1/2 feet long for every foot the bridge is high, provided that no mud sill is to be less than 20 feet long. Posts, braces & caps to be 12 x 12, all good heart green pine or post oak. Sleepers to be 8 x 12, five to each span. Flooring to be 12 feet long, 1 1/2 inch thick, not over 8 inches wide, to be nailed down with 20 penny nails, and substantially banistered, and 2 x 6 plank spiked across the flooring of the bridge each side of the same. |
| Bridge across Mulberry Creek near William Walker's Mill | It is ordered by the Court that R. C. Lenoir be and he is hereby authorized to let to be built a bridge across Mulberry Creek on the Montgomery and Tuscaloosa Road at or near William Walker's Mill on said road. |
| Bridge across Goose Pond Creek | It is ordered by the Court that H. J. Callen be and he is hereby authorized to let to be built a bridge across Goose Pond Creek on Little Adams Ferry Road at or near Clanton on said creek. |
| Change Montevallo Road | Whereas application in writing having been made to the Court to change the Montevallo Road in said County in manner therein set forth, that is to say, to commence at the town of Jamison and running in a southern direction to again intersects said road at a point about one half mile south of Smith & Callen Mill on said road, and it being made to appear to the Court that notice of said proposed change has in all respects been given as required by law. It is therefore ordered by the Court that J. O. Smith, R. H. Gaines, Asa Adkinson, John Sexton, Ira Campbell, James Z. Hill and J. P. Allen be and they are hereby appointed a jury of review to view and mark out said proposed change and that they have notice of their appointment. And it is further ordered that they report their action in the premises to the next term of this Court. |
| To establish a Road from Joe Price to Goose Pond Creek | Whereas application in writing has been made to the Court to establish a new road in said County as follows, to commence one mile south of the gate of Joe Price on the Adams Ferry road and Verbena Road and to run in a western direction to Goose Pond Swamp near the Town of Clanton to again intersect the Adams Ferry Road at its terminus. And it being made known to the Court that due and legal notice of such intended application has been in all respects given as required by law. It is therefore ordered by the Court that the following named persons be and they are hereby appointed a Jury of review to view and mark out said proposed road Viz: V. J. Gragg, Thomas M. Ternan, Moses Armstrong, George Mims Jr, James Thacker, Rubin Popwell and E. H. Lowe Sr, and that they have notice of their appointment and that they be required to report their action in the premises to the next term of this Court. |
| To establish a new Road from Cane Creek to Pages Ferry on the Coosa River | Whereas application in writing has been made to the Court to establish a new road in said County as follows, to commence at or near Cane Creek Church in said County on the Adams Ferry Road, to run in a northeastern direction to what is known as Pages old Ferry on the Coosa River where the same is to terminate. And it being made known to the Court that due and legal notice of such intended application has been in all respects given as required by law. It is therefore ordered by the Court that the following named persons be and they are hereby appointed a Jury of review to view and mark out such proposed road Viz: James McKee, John G. McKee, John Marcus, Jasper Johnson, Wm. Mahan, William Cox and Henry Johnson, and that they be notified of their appointment and that they be required to report their action in the premises to the next term of this Court. |
| Order to establish Road leaving Smith Ferry road | Whereas at a Regular term of this Court held on the 9th day of February A.D. 1880 an order was made and entered in the premises to establish a new road as follows to wit: leaving the Smith Ferry road and Clanton road near Mrs. M. | Order to establish and open the Rucker & Curry Road | Whereas at a regular term of this Court held on the 9th day of February A.D. 1880 an order was made and entered in the premises to establish a new road leaving the Dixie road & Clanton road at or near Mrs. Ruckers and to intersect the Maplesville road at or near the Curry place on said road. And whereas at said term of said Court the following named persons were appointed a Jury of review, viz: A. C. Atchison, Robert Roebuck, M. Hester, E. F. Fuller, J. W. Martin, M. F. Fuller and John Dunivan, and the said Jury of review having made their report as required by law setting forth the fact that on the 12th day of July 1880 they met and after being sworn proceeded to view and mark out said road, beginning at the Clanton and Dixie Road near Mrs. Ruckers and running thence by way of E. F. Fuller's Mill and intersecting the old Choctaw road near the Curry place and intersecting near the same point the Curry and Maplesville Road. It is therefore ordered by the Court that A. C. Broadhead be and he is hereby appointed overseer on said road, that he is hereby required the same in the manner indicated by said Jury of review and to keep the same in repair until his successor shall be appointed and commissioned. | Order to Establish the Change in the Weldon Road | Whereas at the Regular term of the Commissioners Court held on the 9th day of February 1880, an order was entered in the premises to change the Weldon road from near Walnut Creek and to again intersect the said road again at or near William Mims, and at said term of said Court the following named persons were appointed to view and mark out said proposed change viz: Nathan Mims, W. M. Gore, W. F. Connell, R. E. Jones, William Mims Sr, M. J. Parrish and J. M. Parrish. And said Jury of review having made their report stating that on the first day of July 1880 they met and after being sworn proceeded to view and mark out said proposed change by leaving the said road near Walnut Creek and again intersecting said road near William Mims Sr. It is therefore ordered by the Court that the Weldon road be and the same is hereby changed in accordance with the report of said Jury of review. And it is further ordered that the overseer on said road be and he is hereby required to open up said road in accordance with the manner indicated by said Jury of review and that he have notice of the same and order of this Court. |
| To establish a Public Road from County Line to Fullers old Place | Whereas application in writing has been made to the Court for an order to establish a public road in said County from the County Line near H. G. Lasiters to intersect the Kingston road near Fullers old place. And it having been made known to the Court that due and legal notice has in all respects been given as required by law. It is therefore ordered by the Court that the following named persons viz: Wilson Weaver, Thomas Ousley, P. Moore, Thomas Roberts, Crawford Cleuer, John Roberts, William Green Sr, be and they are hereby appointed a Jury of review to view and mark out said road and that they be notified of their appointment and they be required to report their action in the premises to the next term of this Court. | Rate of Taxation for the Tax year 1880 for County purposes | It is ordered by the Court that there be assessed and collected for County purposes for the tax year 1880 one half of one percent on each one hundred Dollars or fractional part thereof of real and personal property assessed for State Tax during and for the year 1880 in the County of Chilton in said State. It is further ordered by the court that the Judge of Probate be and he is hereby required to collect on all licenses issued under the revenue laws of the State of Alabama from now until the regular August Term of this Court A.D. 1881 the sum of fifty percent on all State Tax so collected. |
| Change the voting place of Beat No. 2 | Whereas application in writing having been made to the Court to change the voting place of Beat No 2 from Clear Creek to Providence Baptist Church (at the School House) in said Beat No 2 in Chilton County Alabama, and it appearing to the Court that notice of said application has been given for the time prescribed by law. It is therefore ordered by the Court that the voting place of Beat No 2 to wit Clear Creek be changed from its present location to the School House near Providence Baptist Church in said County and Beat. It is ordered that said voting place shall be known and called Providence. It is further ordered that all Elections to be held whether special or general that the voting place of Beat No. 2 shall be at Providence Baptist Church (at the School House) and Jamison in said Beat. |
