August term 1884The State of Alabama, Chilton County. Commissioners Court, regular term August 11th A.D. 1884. Present and presiding Hon. H. J. Callen, Judge of Probate; R. C. Lenoir, Buckner Harris, Moses Robertson, and Anderson Baker Sr., commissioners. The Court proceeded to transact such business as was brought before it when the following orders were made and entered in the premises.
Barrett & Co. — $12.35It is ordered by the Court that Barrett & Co. be and they are hereby allowed their warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of twelve 35/100 dollars for stationery furnished for use of county officers.
H. N. Langford — $10.80It is ordered by the Court that H. N. Langford be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of ten 80/100 dollars for articles furnished for use of jail and washing for prisoners up to Aug. 1884.
John Garner — $17.00It is ordered by the Court that John Garner be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of seventeen dollars for articles furnished for jail, whitewashing jail, and cleaning up yard; and four days attendance on County Court up to August 1884.
R. Ehrman — $16.25It is ordered by the Court that R. Ehrman be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of sixteen 25/100 dollars for articles furnished for the use of the county.
J. M. Parish, bondIt is ordered by the Court that J. M. Parish be and he is hereby required to give bond in the sum of eight thousand dollars as County Treasurer, elected August 4th 1884.

W. H. Foshee — $10.00It is ordered by the Court that W. H. Foshee be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of ten dollars for ex officio services rendered at special term 1884.
H. J. Callen — $2.50It is ordered by the Court that H. J. Callen be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of two dollars and fifty cents for ex officio services rendered at special term 1884.
John Garner — $72.50It is ordered by the Court that John Garner, Sheriff, be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of seventy-two 50/100 dollars for ex officio road service, 3rd quarter 1884.
K. Wells — $2.60It is ordered by the Court that K. Wells be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of two dollars and sixty cents for one day service and mileage as County Commissioner, July term 1884.
J. J. Honeycutt — $3.60It is ordered by the Court that J. J. Honeycutt be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of three dollars and sixty cents for attending probate court as commissioner July 1884.
Elias Minor — $3.00It is ordered by the Court that Elias Minor be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of three dollars for making coffin for G. W. Floyd, a pauper.
J. M. Thacker — $2.45It is ordered by the Court that J. M. Thacker be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of two 45/100 dollars for funeral expenses of J. M. Marcus, a pauper.
New road, change the Harkins roadWhereas application has been made to the Court by order to change the Harkins road in the following manner, to leave said road at the Busby place on said road thence to run by Rays Mill crossing the Montgomery road at Ira Campbell and again intersecting the Clanton road at

New roadJamison in said county, and whereas it has been made known to the Court that due and legal notice of said proposed change has been given as required by law. It is therefore ordered by the Court that the following viewers be and they are hereby appointed a jury of view, to wit: John Middlebrooks, Jesse Smitherman, Ben Glasscock, W. Northcut, West Ellison, Columbus Martin and Jack Glasscock, to view and mark out said proposed change and report their action in the premises to the next term of this Court.
John Garner — $63.80It is ordered by the Court that John Garner, Sheriff, be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of sixty-three 80/100 dollars for conveying the Bensons to the Lunatic Asylum.
W. H. Lawrence — $12.00It is ordered by the Court that W. H. Lawrence be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of twelve dollars for publishing prohibition notice of beat 3 and sheriff's notice of general election.
Geo. H. Rodgers — $13.40It is ordered by the Court that Geo. H. Rodgers be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of thirteen 40/100 dollars for stationery furnished county officers.
J. S. Pitts — $16.80It is ordered by the Court that J. S. Pitts be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of sixteen 80/100 dollars for conveying Mrs. Rachel Eiland to the Lunatic Asylum.
W. D. Brown & Co. — $21.50It is ordered by the Court that W. D. Brown & Co. be and they are hereby allowed their warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of twenty one 50/100 dollars for stationery furnished W. A. Smith, tax assessor.

Bridge across Swift CreekIt is ordered by the Court that M. Robinson County Commissioner be and he is hereby authorized and required to let to repair & lengthen the bridge across Swift Creek on the Dixie Road.
J. M. Parish; $327.48It is ordered by the Court that J. M. Parish County Treasurer be and he is hereby allowed his warrant on the County Treasury for the sum of Three hundred and twenty seven & 48/100 Dollars for money paid out by him for use of the County.
New RoadWhereas application in writing has been made to the Court for an order to establish a new road leading from Sarah Collins running west by way of John Collins Sr. across Yellow Leaf Creek at the Hand & Callen Tramway and connect with the Montevallo Road at G. S. Collins in said County. And proof having been made to the Court that due and legal notice has been given of said application. It is therefore ordered by the Court that Hank Collins, S. J. Heath, W. A. Mims, J. J. Honeycutt, E. M. Bean, John Collins Sr. and P. C. Nix be and they are hereby appointed a jury of view to view and mark out said proposed Road and report their action in the premises to the next term of this Court.
Paint the Court HouseIt is ordered by the Court that Jeff Davis keeper of Court House be and he is hereby authorized to have the Court House painted out side.
Dr. W. E. StewartIt is ordered by the Court that Dr. W. E. Stewart be and he is hereby appointed Physician of the jail of said County who is to furnish all medicines for the inmates of the County Jail except disinfectants

County taxIt is ordered by the Court that there be levied and collected upon all property assessed for or liable to taxation for the State the sum of three tenths of one percent for County purposes from now until the August term of said Court 1885. It is further ordered that the Judge of Probate be and he is hereby directed to collect for County purposes on all License issued by him under the Revenue Laws of this State the sum of Fifty percent on the amount collected by the State.
