Cobb Cemetery

The Cobb Cemetery, or Cobb Confederate Cemetery, between Mineral
Springs and Jemison is the burial place for Capt James Cobb who was hung
during the confusion and chaos at the end of the Civil War. Some say
he was hung by the Blackwell Gang, some say by thieves, and others say
he was hung by angry conscripts. The only agreement is that he was hung
"to an apple tree."
Other Veterans buried here are Capt. William
Shelby, and Dr. John A. McNeil both of whom served in the Confederate
Army, and Charles Harrell who served in the Navy during World War II.
The cemetery was registered with the Alabama Historical Commission by Katherine Reece.
